Ms. Susan Dadole, Acting Social Welfare and Development Officer of Initao recently informed this blogger that it's different now that two years ago when some old folks were in so many ways neglected and not cared for the way they must by some siblings, when some were left to fend for themselves-begging. Dadole said that when they implemented government programs for senior citizens, differently-abled persons, etc. were benefactors of privileges as pensions, health care that they no longer considered as burdens to their children. Government assistance programs have positive effects on families that have elderlies in their care, they are a big help for them, she said.

INITAO ROAD PROJECTS UNFINISHED

This afternoon in his office, Initao Municipal Development Officer Ariel Galarroza told the Observer that the President's road projects for Initao remain unfinished and the right person to ask for these is the Municipal Engineer who is in-charge of monitoring and evaluation. For him, Galarroza said, he could not ascertain at what level of accomplishment those projects might be. He could only presume at 30-40% and the responsibility of finishing those is on the contractors' shoulders. They have to really finish them for that would have some negative repercussions if they don't, Galarroza continued. They might be blacklisted or incur revocation of licenses to operate as contractors, he said.

This morning, in her office Initao Municipal Election Officer Ma. Lourie N. Toledo gave the Observer official list of candidates for local positions namely Mayor, Vice Mayor, and SB members. Only two each for both the Mayor and Vice Mayor; Incumbent Mayor Enerito Acain V, and Cesar Orquillas, Vice Mayor Cora Sayre, and Francis Balabat. For SB members there are 18 listed. Eight incumbents and ten challengers. The sitting councilors are; Susan Balabat, Nemia Penita Buhian, Carryl Carbolnilla, Renato Galarroza, Michael Van Jarales, Marlou Ratunil, Eusebio Waslo, Farley Zalsos. The other hopefuls; Ma. Luisa Casimero, Annie Mer Chio, Cenon Dolalas, Pepito Gambe, Rolando Jamaca,Dandy Maghuyop, Rae Obrique, Annabelle Quitoriano, Ricardo Quitoriano, Jr., Belen Saavedra. The incumbent councilors are running ender the PDP banner,four under NUP or six are running as independents or partyless.
